Sugar cookies w/frosting and sprinkles; chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles, fresh apple strudel bites and banana cream tarts! Oh my! Everything looks so delicious! And it was all very good!!!!! What a way to start our first book club meeting.
Our first book, The Fairy Berry Bake-Off was great! Most of us girls had not read the book so Mrs. Patricia read the book to us. She then asked us questions about what she read. We talked about the different fairy names and their jobs in Pixie Hollow, the different type of desserts the baking fairies made and the ones we liked the best. We discussed why the baking fairies became upset with each other and how they should work out their differences and of course they did (the fairies are happy people!). After the discussion, we all tasted the treats and we very full just like the fairies!
Our craft activity was creating a "shoe story" (a tiny book containing pictures of certain story element or sequence of events in a story). Our shoe stories are a picture of our creative desserts. It was hard at first coming up with the name of a dessert, but we all finally did. Once they were created, the tiny book was then tied onto our shoe/sneaker. For those of us who did not have on laces, we tied them around our ankle. They look pretty cool.
I can't wait and see what we'll do next month!

We Love You Strawberry Shortcake! (K & Gr 1)
Wow! Today was the School Girls Read Book Club and it was a lot of fun. I got to meet some very nice girls who were either in Kindergarten or 1st grade. There was 9 of us at the club. The story, We Love You Strawberry Shortcake!, was read by Kristina (she is the one who started the book club 3 years ago when she was in 1st grade). She is a really good reader.
After the story, we discussed different parts of the story. Most of us like Strawberry Shortcake so it was a good book choice for our first book reading. We got to eat fresh strawberries and drink lemonade (a Strawberry Shortcake favorite) and dunkin donuts munchins. Our craft was coloring a picture of Strawberry Shortcake to be placed in a frame and decorate a bookmark to be used when reading our monthly books.
The time went very fast but I will be back next month!
