Barbie Princess Charm School (K & Gr 1)

Wow! This is the best, blingest bangels ever! I thought we were going to make a crown but instead we made jeweled bangles! Only a princess can wear the bangles we made.

Our meeting started with us sitting in a circle discussing the book and eating our snacks. Thank you to the moms again for the lemonade and chips and pretzels.
We discuss how Blair won a spot to attend the Princess Charm School and that she must have prayed and asked God to help her because she really wanted to go there. We all agreed God answered her prayer because she got to go there. We talked about the different characters in the school. Which ones we liked and didn't like and why and how we could make them better. Everyone agreed that Delancy and her mom needed prayer. All of us was happy that Blair was the lost Princess of Gardania!

We moved to the table and began creating our sparkling bangles. We had to make the number with the jewels. That took some time but when we finised, they all were beautiful!

Only 2 more meeting left -- May and June. I wonder what we'll do next month.

A Dozen Fairy Dresses (Gr 2 & 3)

Oh my! I forgot to blog about our meeting last month. It was on Thursday, March 22nd! It was great! Our snacks of course were first class. The moms really out did themselves. We had sugar cookies with wording that said, "I love to read" or "I love SGR". They were so good!!

Our discussion had us talking about the world of fashion. We talked about the different types of fabrics, famous designers and how we can become make our own fashion. So guess what the craft was? You got it. We designed our own fashion line of clothes. That was so much fun! Some of us girls were really into the details of our design--matching fabrics, using accessories like shoes, bags and hats, that we only got to design 1 outfit. A few of us designed 2 or 3 outfits. We didn't have time to put on a fashion show but we were able to show our moms when they picked us up.

Next month's discussion will be different. Our book is much longer. I can't wait to see what craft project we will make to enhance our reading.

Fancy Nancy and the Too-Loose Tooth (K & Gr 1)

I got a loose tooth! Me too! Me too! Just about all of us girls either had a tooth come out recently or was about to lose a tooth. How funny?

Popcorn and chocolate chip cookies was our treats! Yummy! If you had a loose tooth today, you would lose it! We talked about the book as we ate our treats. Of few of the girls did not read the book and could not answer the questions. Mrs. Patricia told them that in order to participate in the book club, you have to read the monthly book. For the rest of us, we kept answering questions and talking about the parts that we liked the best.

After we finished our treats and discussion, it was craft time. We didn't play a game this month. Instead of a fancy tooth necklace, we made Fancy Tooth Boxes. Each of us was given a wooden box and we got to paint it. Some of us painted our boxes like a rainbow. Some of us painted our boxes with silver sparkles. They are all so different and beautiful! I can't wait to lose my tooth and put it in my special Fancy Tooth Box!

This book club gets better and better at each meeting. I can't wait until next month!

Calendar Mysteries February Friend (Gr 2 & 3)

Oh my! We had such a good time at book club last month (sorry, I forgot to write about it)!

We played a board game called, Calendar Mysteries. Mrs. Patricia made the game up. We had such a big group that we had 2 games going at the same time! We had to choice a colored game marker and roll the dice to see who went first. The card deck were the cover of the book. On the other side, was a question. If you answered correctly, you got to roll the dice and move. The gameboard had different directions on it. Some of us moved forward just to move backwards. And some of us moved forward and keep moving forward. It really showed who read the book. Some of us, didn't move for a very, very, very long time. The questions had us answer in details and had us to really think.

Annie and Snowball & the Wintry Freeze (K & Gr 1)

Brrr! Its cold outside. Today's book club weather started off with a wintry freeze. The trees were covered with a thin sheet of snow (from the night before). As the sun shined in the sky, it began to melt the snow and drops of it fell to the ground. Aw. How beautiful the forest looked. Too bad it only last for the morning. By lunch, there was no signs of a wintry freeze.

The book club meeting this month was fun! We did, "Play Time Game Board". Mrs. Patricia first divided the group. She gave each group a game board and playing cards (she made them both). We had game markers and a die. We took turns rolling the dice to see how many spaces we could move. We had to answer the question on the playing cards. If we got it right, we moved. If we didn't, we could not move. If we didn't know the answer, we looked it up in our books. Everyone had fun rolling the dice and answering the questions. Each group had a winner. The game was so much fun!

Our snack treat was warm cinnamon buns and apple juice. An excellent treat (isn't that what Annie, Henry and Snowball ate in the story?). How did they know we would like that? I can't wait until next month. Maybe something green?????
